JobKeeper Payment for Workers

The Federal Government subsidy to assist businesses became law on 8 April 2020.

Under the JobKeeper Payment, businesses impacted by the coronavirus will be able to access a subsidy to continue paying their employees. Affected employers will be able to claim a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per eligible employee from 30 March 2020.

Business with employees and self-employed businesses are eligible – further information to come shortly. The first payments will be received by employers in the first week of May.

All that is required initially is to register online at www.ato.gov.au/general/gen/jobkeeper-payment/

A quick registration process only requires:-

  • Name
  • Australian Business Number
  • Contact name
  • Contact address
  • Contact phone

Let us know if you want us to do this.

Subsequently eligibility and reporting will be required.

Small business will need to advise whether their turnover has fallen by 30% (approximately) in the current Business Activity Statement reporting period (often 3 months).
